Short version: Steppy counts your steps on your iPhone while an alarm is ringing. It never tracks your location. We don't sell your data and there are no ads. The waitlist only keeps your email so we can tell you when Steppy launches.
This policy covers the Steppy iPhone app and this website. Steppy is made by MT Solutions, LLC ("we", "us").
What the app uses
- Motion and Fitness (step count). When an alarm rings and you start walking, Steppy reads your step count from your iPhone to count the steps taken after the alarm. It stops reading when you finish.
- Alarms. Steppy schedules alarms with Apple's AlarmKit so they ring like the built in Clock app.
- Your Steppy history. Alarms, escape times, points, streaks and settings are stored on your device.
Steppy does not use your location, contacts, photos or microphone.
Friend races
The first version races you against your own best time on your device. When friend groups arrive, racing with friends will share your race name, escape time and points with the people in your group. We will update this policy and ask in the app before any of that data leaves your phone.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address with our email provider, beehiiv, and use it to send you a thank-you email and a message when Steppy launches. Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your email at any time.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run Steppy (like beehiiv for email and Vercel for hosting this site), or when the law requires it.
Children
Steppy is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.
Your choices
- Turn off Motion and Fitness access for Steppy in iPhone Settings at any time.
- Delete the app to remove the data stored on your device.
- Email us to access or delete any data we hold about you.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app for anything important.
